It’s a known fact that Kendrick Lamar makes moves in silence, but his knack for keeping mum just makes significant events like that much crazier. In a huge surprise move, Kendrick Lamar brings in Jay-Z for the remix to the fan favorite from good kid, m.A.A.d. city, “Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe.” During his “battle” set with Just Blaze at SXSW, Young Guru actually previews the song for his audience, claiming, “Anytime I fuck with the young boy, he might get something special,” before playing Jay’s verse. Kendrick has two new verses on the remix as well. Check out the footage below. The sad part is that it doesn’t even seem like the crowd realizes the significance of this.
Kendrick and Jay-Z’s histories crossed paths when Kendrick was still K. Dot and almost signed a deal with Def Jam when Hov was president. Jay isn’t the only rap legend to be linked to this song. Last year before good kid even dropped, a video was released of Kendrick in the studio with Dr. Dre and André 3000 listening to said song.
