MMG’s Wale was in attendance at tonight’s game between the Washington Wizards and Toronto Raptors in his hometown of Washington, D.C. Wale had been taunting Toronto forward Rudy Gay earlier in the game, but when Gay responded by gesturing for Wale to call him, the game’s play-by-play announcer Matt Devlin took it to a WHOLE ‘NOTHA LEVEL.

Devlin began by referring to the Wale as a supposed “local rapper”, pronouncing his name Wall-Ayy as two very separate syllables. At the end of the clip, Devlin finishes off the ether by suggesting that one of his Twitter followers inform him of who Wale is “if they’ve ever heard of him” and then goes on to remark, “He’s not Drake; that’s for sure.” OH MY GOD DID HE REALLY JUST SAY THAT. LET ME SHAKE THIS MAN’S HAND.

Wale went on to approach the announcer’s desk, but was then escorted back to his seat.

Game: announcers.
