Tree — Tree Featuring The City (Mixtape)

I meant to post this on New Year’s Eve when it originally dropped but didn’t get a chance to. Chicago rapper Tree presents his latest mixtape Tree Featuring The City. Chicago had a huge presence in hip-hop in 2012, but people may still be pretty unfamiliar with Tree. His Sunday School mixtape was one of my favorites of the year. He’s an above average rapper, but his beats (he does all his own stuff) are sooo crazy. Tree Featuring The City features appearances from other Chicago cats that you may have heard of but aren’t totally up on, like Chance The Rapper, Giftz (formerly Young Giftz), and many more. All the songs are, of course, produced by Tree. Once you get past some of the filler, this tape is super solid. I really recommend “Steamer” and “Raw Denim”.
