Frank Ocean Releases “Wiseman”, Originally Meant for Tarantino’s ‘Django Unchained’

When the soundtrack for the film Django Unchained was originally announced, it was mentioned that Frank Ocean would be contributing to the project. Later on though, in an interview, the movie’s director Quentin Tarantino admitted that while Frank wrote a beautiful song, he couldn’t find a place to actually put it in the film. Fans who worried that the song would never see the light of day can rest assured as Frank took to his Tumblr to release the song with the message “django was ill without it.”.

While Frank makes specific allusions to Django‘s slavery themes, there are parts of the song that are almost Kubrick-esque. The man truly has an ability to write these generational anthems that are quiet and reserved but epic at the same time. Check out the lyrics of the song below, via Frank, himself.
