Read About the Time Travis Scott Met Kanye West and Shared A Plate of Doritos Tacos with Him

We’ve posted music by newcomer Travi$ Scott before, and by now you’ve no doubt heard his voice and production on the G.O.O.D. Music album Cruel Summer, but there’s still not much we actually know about the guy. Complex had a chance to speak to the 20-year-old and learn his story and how he hooked up with Kanye West and the G.O.O.D. Music crew. One of the highlights from the interview is Travis explaining the time he actually met Kanye and how Ye offered him some Doritos tacos from Taco Bell.

“First thing he gave me was a Doritos taco from Taco Bell. He’s like, ‘Yo you want a taco?’ I was like, ‘Yeah!’ He gave it to me on this fancy ass platter, like some Hermes shit. What’s crazy is, I don’t eat like sour cream.

“So I opened it and that shit was loaded with sour cream! He’s like ‘Why aren’t you eating it?’ All my niggas know that shit would make me throw up. But I ate the whole shit! [Laughs.] Iwasn’t going to be like, ‘No, I’m not fucking with this taco man. You put this shit on this nice plate, but I’m not about to eat it.’

“That taco was so fucking disgusting. But man, I wouldn’t even notice it. Just playing him my music and just to see him nod his head even a little bit was just ill.

“After I stopped, he’ll be like, ‘This shit was dope,’ or ‘This shit’s ill. Then he’ll like critique it fast as fuck. Like, ‘I think you should pull this, but other than that it’s ill.’ It was fresh, other than that like sour cream in my fucking mouth.”

Pause at all that sour cream in the taco talk, but can you just imagine how magical of a plate that must have been? How soon before the Hermes and Taco Bell partnership? If you read the whole piece, you get the gist of this guy’s whole steez. He’s had a very privileged upbringing but abandoned that life to pursue music. His beats are cool. He’s especially good at mixing his drums (just check the chanting outro on the original “New God Flow“). As of now, he’s not a very good rapper (Have you heard “Sin City”?), but he’s been linked to T.I., Tricky Stewart, and now Kanye and co., so of course we have to care about him.
