Kendrick Lamar Recruits Hit-Boy, Just Blaze & Pharrell, But Not Dr. Dre for ‘good kid, mAAd city’

We’re only a week away from one of hip-hop’s few highly anticipated albums for the remainder of 2012. After revealing the album’s tracklist about a week ago, today we are blessed with the project’s production credits. good kid, m.A.A.d city will feature production from some of the best in the business, including Hit-Boy, Pharrell, Just Blaze, Tha Bizness, T-Minus, and Scoop Devill, as well as perennial Kendrick collaborators Sounwave, DJ Dahi, THC and Terrace Martin. Our boy Dawaun Parker also has credits on “Black Boy Fly” with producer Rahki. Guests for the album include Drake, Jay Rock, Dr. Dre and Mary J. Blige. It’s almost curious that there aren’t any Dr. Dre productions on this album. Chances are he mixed every song, but there are no beats he’s responsible for from scratch. This seemed likely after the XXL cover story with Kendrick and Dre suggested Dre’s very hands off approach, but it’s also kind of disappointing that a true Aftermath debut doesn’t include any production from the good doctor. It’s also interesting to note that the album’s two singles “The Recipe” and “Swimming Pools (Drank)” both only serve as bonus tracks. Pre-order the album on iTunes now and pick it up October 22.
