Beyonce Set to Perform at This Year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show
…Or at least this is very much implied by a post on Beyonce’s website, entitled “Countdown to Touchdown”. The NFL has had the tough time of making their halftime show even the least bit interesting since the Justin Timberlake/Janet Jackson incident. They had those years with old guys like The Who and Bruce Springsteen, terrific musicians in their own right, just not the best decision for a halftime show in this day in age. The last two years featured “current”, ummm, “stars” with The Black Eyed Peas and Usher and then with Madonna, LMFAO, Nicki Minaj, M.I.A. and Cee-Lo. These guys did represent the who’s who of the moment, but I think the NFL realized that nobody really cares to hear their music. Beyonce is the safe choice. She’s incredibly famous as a singer and for rubbing shoulders with the Obamas. Her music is clean and accessible, and nobody doesn’t like her. She’s a great performer, but does anyone really want to hear “Best I Never Had” during halftime?
