No Doubt – Push and Shove (Prod. by Diplo)
Pairing No Doubt with it-producer of the moment Diplo to further their comeback seems like a great idea on paper. If you were to further describe as an eclectic collection of sounds and deliver, it would still seem like a good move. “Push and Shove”, the band’s second single from their comeback album of the same name, unfortunately falls flat. You can’t help but attribute that not to the music itself necessarily, but to the fact that who really cares about No Doubt anymore? I mean, shit, TRL doesn’t even exist anymore. It’s been eleven years since their last album. Even if their extensive fan base is paying attention, that only means so much today. Remember when Blink-182 put together their reunion album? That shit just came and went. I’m not saying comebacks can’t work. I’m saying our expectations are always too high for what the final product really can offer.
