Kanye West Discusses Writing Raps in ‘The Art Of Rap’ Outtake (Video)
Kanye West was one of the many big named guests in Ice-T’s The Art of Rap film, documenting several rappers’ style of writing. In this outtake from the documentary, Kanye explains how it wasn’t until his fifth album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy that he chose to write his raps down on paper. Specifically, he mentions “Power” and the intricacies of the song’s lines. He also casually says “WE spend 5,000 hours writing ["Power"]…”, which is interesting considering the conversation on the idea of Nas using ghostwriters. I mean we always knew Kanye had used writers in the past, but on Graduation he said “I don’t need wri-teers/I might bounce ideas”.
