NBA 2K13 Executive Produced by Jay-Z

Life+Times reports that Jay-Z will serve as executive producer for NBA 2K13. What does it even mean to executive produce a video game? Are we just making up excuses to write this man a check? HE ALREADY HAS ALL THE MONEY IN THE WORLD! Does Jay even know anything about video games? Isn’t this franchise already super popular (especially within the hip-hop community)? Why do they need to attach his name to it? I’M JUST SO CONFUSED. I’M SORRY FOR THE ALL CAPS.
