Obie Trice sat down with HipHopWired to discuss some negative experiences he had when he was on Interscope and why he’d never do another major label deal again. Obie explains his frustration with how when he completed his first album Cheers, the label still felt like a single was missing. He would eventually feel forced to do the song “Got Some Teeth”. He also says that his third single was picked because head of Interscope Records, Jimmy Iovine, saw the song paused on his son’s iPod. With experiences like that, it makes sense why he would choose the independent route. Obie’s third album Bottoms Up is on iTunes now.
